German artist Michaela Schweiger just won a video award for her great surreal pseudo-documentory video works.The drawings above are from 1995 and the first part of the series "Rendezvous der Freunde".
For this work she asked several of her artist friends to draw a portrait of her. For the second part, she asked painter friends to paint a picture as a gift for her. In the third part she showed a collection of different works from fellow artist. For the last part, she invited her friends and teachers for a four-course dinner in their art academy.
I like this project for the simplicity of the idea to fill the blind spots in one's self image by the reflection of other people's view.
