--------Leila Peacock----------

Besides from having a fantastic artist name (it's her real name, actually), Leila Peacock makes really great drawings. The work above is not from her website, but a collaboration with her friend, artist Liam Tickner, who sends her photographs that she uses for drawings.

-----------Jowhara AlSaud-----------------

Jowhara AlSaud has a solo-show in Witzenhausen Gallery in Amsterdam right now.
They explain about it:
Al Saud’s body of work, developed over the past years, was inspired by the effects on visual communication caused by censorship in Saudi Arabia. (...) In her unique and yet traditional darkroom technique, the artist makes a drawing emitting skin, faces and detailed features which is then etched in an 8x10 inch negative, the same negative that was used to photograph what will become the background of the image. This technique brings to mind the experimental use of photography as an artistic medium instead of a means of documenting reality, characteristic of the avant-garde in the early 20th century. It is this vulnerability of the image under the lens of a camera and other manipulation processes involved, that Al Saud wishes to highlight in her work.

------Cynthia Greig------------

from the series Representations.
Cynthia Greig explains on her website: "Representations combines color photography and drawing to create what I like to call photographic documents of three-dimensional drawings. Gathering ordinary household objects, I first whitewash them with house paint, and then draw directly onto their surfaces with charcoal or graphite."
