OBJECTS - Journal of Applied Arts
Objects is a new magazine, published by Berlin curators Katja Kleiss and Pascal Johanssen. The first issue offers academic essays, loads of images and is "interested in the individual artistic craftwork, the object," as they state on their website. I liked the very unpretentious layout and the approach in general. For illustrators, art lovers and designers, but it will also impress everybody who liked to consider "applied arts" as the commercial stepbrother of "fine arts". Looking forward to issue #2.

UOVO-Magazine Drawing Box
Uovo is a quaterly art magazine from Italy. They published 3 issues on drawings that include all together 56 artists. The books don't have a theme and it's all images, no text.
They have a great straight-forward design; Everything is printed in black and white and a lot of drawings are shown in detail instead of the whole image. I quite enjoyed that approach, something different compared to other portfolio-like books that give the reader an overview on an artist's work.
